Products and markets: ALLOS provides specialized materials for two areas of rapidly growing strategic importance for AI hardware. Our global customers use these materials to develop next-generation solutions in both fields:

  •  MicroLED displays as visual user interfaces to AI systems: The next generation of displays, especially augmented reality (AR) displays, willvprovide users with seamless AI-generated contextual information without relying on traditional hardware such as smartphones or PCs. MicroLED displays based on ALLOS’ materials are uniquely positioned for this purpose, as they combine the required AR and outdoor display performance breakthroughs with high manufacturing yield and low unit cost.
  • MicroLED based optical interconnects for AI computing: Conventional copper interconnects become increasingly a performance and energy-efficiency bottleneck for AI computing. The solution is to transition to photon-based communication technologies, even at the chip level. MicroLEDs based on ALLOS’ materials are ideal for this purpose as they combine high bandwidth, low energy consumption and long-term reliability.

All our materials are fully silicon fab-compatible and are available in both 200 mm and 300 mm wafer diameters. This enables microLED device manufacturing in existing silicon fabs, including the usage of technologies such as advanced wafer-to-wafer bonding. Our customers are therefore in a unique strategic position to benefit from the quality, yield, cost, throughput and scaling advantages of the silicon semiconductor industry.
